Candy Button Graham Cracker Bars Recipe — No-Bake Party Treat

Who remembers candy buttons from years ago? There’s something timeless about these little treats that keeps them popular. I recently found candy buttons at Party City and immediately knew what to make. I always have graham crackers on hand, and with a stash of colorful Sixlets, the idea was simple: coat graham crackers in melted white almond bark and top them with candy to recreate a tastier, modern take on vintage candy buttons.

These treats are easy to assemble and require just a few supplies. Set a sheet of parchment paper beneath a wire cooling rack, arrange the graham crackers on the rack with space between each, and pour melted almond bark over the top to create a smooth coating. You can dip the graham crackers, but because they can break easily, pouring the melted coating over them produces a neater, even finish. Any excess almond bark that drips onto the parchment can be scraped up and returned to the bowl for reuse.

Almond bark sets quickly, so work in small batches—coat 4–5 graham crackers at a time and add the Sixlets before the coating hardens. The amount of almond bark you use depends on how thickly you want to cover each cracker; for full coverage without the cracker showing through, be generous with the coating. More almond bark also makes these treats richer and more indulgent.

Instructions

  1. Lay a piece of parchment on the counter and place a wire cooling rack on top.
  2. Arrange graham crackers on the wire rack, leaving 1–2 inches between each.
  3. Melt the almond bark according to package directions. Pour the melted bark over each graham cracker; use a pastry brush or the back of a spoon to guide the coating into corners or along edges as needed.
  4. While the coating is still soft, press six blue, six yellow, and six pink Sixlets onto each cracker to form the candy buttons.
  5. Let the almond bark harden completely before serving or storing.

Notes from Melissa

I used about half of a 24 oz block of almond bark to coat 8 graham crackers. If you’re making a larger batch, consider having extra almond bark on hand. When melting almond bark, heat gently—use half power in the microwave and follow package instructions to avoid overheating. The amount of coating depends on how thickly you want the crackers covered; I aimed for a generous coating to fully hide the graham cracker.

Package each in a clear bag with a tag for a nostalgic party favor, or let children help spread the almond bark (or use white frosting for younger kids) and press the Sixlets in place. They won’t have to be perfect to be delightful—it’s all part of the fun.
