This Instant Pot cauliflower method takes almost no hands-on time and produces consistent results. It’s one of our favorite pressure cooker vegetable preparations.

Ingredients needed to make cauliflower in the Instant Pot
- One head of cauliflower: cut into similarly sized florets (about 4 cups)
- Water: 1 cup for steaming
- Butter: 1 tablespoon, placed on top before cooking
- Salt: to taste

How to make Instant Pot steamed cauliflower
Step 1: Rinse and trim a medium to large head of cauliflower. Cut into even florets so they cook uniformly—about 4 cups total.
Step 2: Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot insert and set the trivet in place above the water.
Step 3: Arrange the cauliflower florets on the trivet and place the tablespoon of butter in the center of the florets.

Step 4: Secure the lid and set the valve to sealing. Use Manual/Pressure Cook on high for 0 minutes. The pot will take a few minutes to reach pressure before the timer counts down.

When the cook cycle ends, immediately perform a quick release to prevent overcooking. Wait for the steam to dissipate and the pressure pin to drop before opening the lid.
Carefully lift out the trivet (a spoon or tongs works well), transfer the cauliflower to a serving dish, and season with salt to taste. Serve warm, either plain or with a sauce if you prefer.
This steamed cauliflower is excellent with a simple cheese sauce or just butter and salt for a classic side.

The method yields tender, buttery cauliflower every time. It’s a quick, reliable side dish that’s both family-friendly and adaptable—swap or add seasonings like garlic powder, smoked paprika, or lemon zest to change the flavor profile.
For best texture, don’t skip the quick release and remove the florets promptly once pressure drops.

If you own an Instant Pot, this steamed cauliflower is an easy recipe to add to your weeknight rotation.
