Moving update — we visited Minneapolis! We spent just over a week exploring and fell in love with the city. Erik and I took time to wander different neighborhoods, try local food, visit malls (we’re big mall fans), and meet residents. We also worked during the trip so we could see the city realistically — not just as tourists. Some days were full workdays, and other days were for exploring.

It was interesting to watch how Minneapolis copes with snow and winter life. We wanted to experience the city in its wintry state, since we’d heard how tough winters can be. Having lived in Maine and spent time in Boston, we felt prepared and found it very doable.

Things to do in Minneapolis — we explored Eat Street, a long stretch full of diverse eateries. We loved Glam Doll Donuts and tried banh mi at two different spots: Jasmine’s Deli and Lu’s Sandwiches. Many restaurants offered vegan options. We also walked the downtown Skyway system for miles, avoiding the cold most of the time, and spent time in neighborhoods like Whittier, Powderhorn Park, Edina, Loring Park, Uptown, Phillips, and Lyndale.

We visited several malls, and the standout was The Mall of America. There’s an indoor theme park, Nickelodeon Universe, and we had a blast on a few rides — the log run was a favorite. We also found Earth Burger, a plant-based spot, and enjoyed coconut soft serve that’s got me thinking about summer recipe ideas.

We’re excited about Minneapolis as a possibility, but we’re still weighing options. Our current lease gives us time to research and visit more places before making a decision. Have you been to Minneapolis? What were your favorite neighborhoods or spots?

All the kiddos + Momma: Jenny, Me, Penny, Mommy and Monica. ❤️

Happy Birthday, Erik! Happy Birthday, Penny! Two special people celebrated birthdays this month: my partner, Erik, and my big sister, Penny. They’re both kind, generous, and patient — qualities I admire — so it felt fitting to celebrate them together. I’m grateful to have them in my life. ❤️
