Guacamole-Stuffed Mushrooms Recipe: Creamy Appetizer Idea

Guacamole-stuffed mushrooms are a smart, delicious choice whether you’re watching carbs, eating clean, or just love avocado and mushrooms together. This simple idea turns two healthy ingredients into a creamy, satisfying appetizer that’s quick to prepare and perfect for parties or a light snack.

This riff on stuffed appetizers is similar in spirit to guacamole-stuffed deviled eggs: it pairs fresh guacamole with another wholesome ingredient—in this case, mushrooms—for a low-carb, flavor-packed bite.

  • If you eat low-carb, Paleo, or clean, this works well.
  • If you have extra guacamole or mushrooms to use up, this is perfect.
  • If you simply love guacamole and mushrooms, you’ll enjoy this.
  • In short: this recipe is for anyone who likes tasty, healthy appetizers.

I happened to have all of these things on hand, and that’s how these stuffed mushrooms came together. The texture is creamy like many guacamole-based appetizers, while the mushrooms add an earthy, satisfying base.

Tips to Make Guacamole Stuffed Mushrooms

This is more inspiration than a strict recipe—think of it as a quick method you can adapt.

  1. Start with a good guacamole. Use your favorite recipe or prepare a fresh batch.
  2. Prep the mushrooms by wiping them clean with a damp paper towel, removing the stems, and lightly brushing the outsides with olive oil.
  3. Bake the mushrooms at 350°F (175°C) for about 10–12 minutes, until they are tender but still hold their shape.
  4. Transfer mushrooms to a serving platter and pour off any excess juices collected in the cavity.
  5. Spoon prepared guacamole into each mushroom cavity and serve.

Additional notes from testing and experience:

  • You can bake mushrooms already filled with guacamole, but I prefer adding the guacamole afterward so it stays cool and bright. Both approaches work.
  • Baby bella (cremini) or white button mushrooms are both excellent choices.
  • To keep guacamole green longer, you can cover it tightly with plastic wrap, press the wrap directly on the surface, or try the thin-water-layer trick often recommended for short-term storage.
