This green smoothie combines fresh, whole ingredients into a light, refreshing drink — one of my favorite simple vegan smoothies. It makes a satisfying breakfast, a cooling snack for warm days, or a quick frozen dessert when you want something creamy and chilled.

This avocado-based smoothie is delightfully creamy thanks to the avocado and frozen banana, while kale and cucumber add a fresh green flavor. Pineapple brings natural sweetness and a tropical note, and a squeeze of lemon brightens the whole blend. Oat milk keeps it plant-based and smooth, but you can use any liquid you prefer.
Ingredients

Kale: I like using kale for the leafy green in this smoothie, but feel free to swap it for spinach or a mix of both. Kale offers a robust green flavor and lots of nutrients, while spinach yields a milder taste.
Avocado: Avocado is the secret to an ultra-creamy, velvety texture. It also adds healthy fats and makes the smoothie feel more filling.
Banana: A frozen banana provides natural sweetness and thickens the blend. It helps create a spoonable smoothie bowl if you want a thicker consistency.
Pineapple: Frozen pineapple contributes bright, tropical sweetness and helps keep the smoothie chilled without watering it down.
Cucumber: Cucumber adds a refreshing, light note that pairs well with the other green ingredients. It’s subtle but makes the drink especially hydrating and crisp.
Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice sharpens the flavor and lifts the overall profile. Use fresh juice for the best taste.
Oat Milk: I use oat milk as the liquid base for its creamy texture and neutral flavor. You can substitute other plant milks, coconut water, or plain water depending on your preference.

Instructions

Step 1: Place the kale and oat milk in a high-speed blender and blend until the kale is broken down and smooth. This pre-blending step ensures a silky texture without leafy bits.
Step 2: Add the frozen banana, frozen pineapple, avocado, cucumber, lemon juice, and ice to the blender.
Step 3: Blend on high until everything is fully combined, smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape the sides of the blender if needed to ensure an even consistency.
Step 4: Taste and adjust. If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash more oat milk. If you prefer it sweeter, add a little maple syrup or another small piece of frozen fruit.

Tips & Tricks
This smoothie is naturally vegan and gluten-free, and you can customize it easily. Here are practical tips to get the best texture and flavor:
- Freeze fruit ahead of time. Pre-freezing banana and pineapple makes the smoothie colder and creamier without needing much ice.
- Pre-blend leafy greens. Blending kale first with the liquid reduces fibrous bits and gives a smoother final result.
- Adjust thickness. For a spoonable smoothie bowl, use less oat milk; for a drinkable smoothie, add more liquid.
- Make it portable. Pour into a chilled stainless steel travel mug and keep it cool for hours. Chilling the container in the freezer for a few minutes first helps maintain temperature.
- Store extras smartly. Freeze any leftover smoothie in an ice cube tray. Pop the frozen cubes into the blender next time to thicken and chill a new batch.
- Swap ingredients freely. Use any leafy green you have and substitute your preferred plant-based milk.

If you enjoyed this smoothie, try experimenting with similar plant-based breakfasts like a blueberry spinach smoothie, overnight oats, pumpkin pancakes, or a blueberry muffin–inspired smoothie. These options offer different textures and flavors while staying simple and wholesome.
