I made these easy mini chocolate M&M cookies for a school lunch treat this week. They’re small, buttery chocolate cookies dotted with mini M&M’s and a few mini chocolate chips — irresistible warm from the oven and perfect for kids and adults alike.
Mini Chocolate M&M Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup + 2 tbsp flour
- 2½ tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup white sugar
- ⅓ cup + 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- ¾ tsp vanilla
- ¾ cup mini M&M’s (plus a few extra for decorating)
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips (plus a few extra for decorating)

How to Make Mini Chocolate M&M Cookies
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with a Silpat mat or parchment paper.
Sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt together into a bowl. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter with the white and brown sugars until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until well combined.
Fold the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until just combined. Stir in the mini M&M’s and mini chocolate chips. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up.
Use a teaspoon to portion the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet about 1 inch apart.

Bake for about 8 minutes, or until the edges are set and crisp but the centers remain soft. Remove the cookies from the oven and gently press a few extra mini M&M’s and mini chips onto the tops of the warm cookies for a prettier presentation.

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to finish cooling. These mini cookies are lovely served with cold milk.
